Gunther le Maire

Gunther le Maire (born September 4, 1940 in Rehau , Upper Franconia ; also W. Gunther le Maire or Walther Gunther le Maire , incorrectly also Günther le Maire ) is a painter, cultural manager and publicist.

Life

Le Maire attended the humanistic high school in Hof (Saale) . In 1964 he graduated from the University of Munich with a degree in business administration. In 1979 le Maire moved to Immenstadt .

While attending the Jean-Paul-Gymnasium in Hof, le Maire was encouraged by his art teacher Max Escher , an expressionist . At the age of seventeen he showed his first works in regional exhibitions. After graduating from high school, he first decided to do business, so that his artistic career was interrupted. Only after moving to Immenstadt did le Maire begin to paint again. His role model there was Arnulf Heimhofer . From 1994 to 2001 le Maire was chairman of the professional association of visual artists .

style

Le Maire tries to reproduce landscapes as they present themselves to him. Traffic signs, construction machines or telegraph poles do not bother him. His pictures are in oil , some are watercolors and pencil drawings. He also created pictures in so-called plein-air painting .

Gunther le Maire deals with the artist Johann Georg Grimm, who was born in Bühl am Alpsee .

He regularly writes the art history (s) in the Allgäuer Gazette . These are portraits of important representatives of the fine arts who worked in the Oberallgäu , Kleinwalsertal and Jungholz districts . Visual artists who have made careers outside the region but have their roots in southern Oberallgäu or who have spent decisive years here are portrayed in loose order by le Maire in the short portrait series Die Abgewanderten in the Allgäuer Anzeigeeblatt .

Exhibition "The Southern"

The Südliche has been the follow-up exhibition to the Oberallgäu art exhibition since 2003, where artists from the southern Oberallgäu can present their work every year. She was u. a. launched by Gunther le Maire. He is responsible for the organization and public relations. He participated in the exhibition in 2003/2015.

The Südliche has been taking place since 2003 as an annual exhibition of visual artists from the southern Oberallgäu (including Kleinwalsertal and Jungholz). It is run by the Kulturgemeinschaft Oberallgäu e. V. in cooperation with the cities of Sonthofen , Immenstadt and the market town of Oberstdorf , by the artists themselves and the Professional Association of Visual Artists (BBK) Schwaben-Süd e. V. worn. A committee determines which artists are invited to the southern . Each of these artists decides without a jury which four current works they want to present to the public. In addition to the works of the artists, works by a historical guest are presented every year. Furthermore, artists from the Oberallgäu living in Germany and abroad are invited.

The venues are in Oberstdorf the Villa Jauss (2006, 2009, 2012, 2015), in Immenstadt the Museum Hofmühle (2003, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2014) and in Sonthofen the market hall (2005, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2016) .
