Andreas Lüderwaldt (* 1944 in Kolberg ( Pomerania )) is a German ethnomusicologist .

biography

Lüderwaldt, who grew up in Hanover , studied historical musicology, ethnomusicology and history. In 1974 he received his doctorate and immediately afterwards came to the Übersee-Museum in Bremen . There he redesigned the Asia department twice . Asian cultures were one of his main focuses. In the mid-1970s it became necessary to combine natural, ethnological and commercial aspects in the Asian exhibition under ecological leitmotifs. In 2006 the new concept was entitled "Asia - continent of contrasts".

The establishment of a gamelan orchestra under the title “Arum Sih”, which he founded in 1981, is also part of Asia . Lüderwaldt organized three major gamelan festivals and made the Übersee-Museum the European center of gamelan music.

In 2001/2002 he headed the Überseemuseum as acting director.

Lüderwaldt designed a total of 44 special exhibitions, including "Ghosts, Mummies and Exotics - From the Cabinet of Rarities to the Overseas Museum", "Ways to Asia" and "Orchestral Worlds - World Orchestra".

He retired in March 2009.
