The Schanzmannsmühle , also called Schultenhedfelder Mühle , is a former, listed mill and a district of Halver in the Märkisches Kreis in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).
Location and description
The Schanzmannsmühle is located in the village of Giersiepen at an altitude of 341 meters above sea level on the K3 district road in southern Halver near the city limits of Kierspe . Other neighboring towns are Oberbommert , Bommert , Niederhedfeld , Hinterhedfeld and Schulten Hedfeld .
The Kerspe dam is located south of the mill . The Schultenhedfelder Bach (also called Hemecke), a tributary of the dam, was dammed in a reservoir to use water power.
history
The Schanzmannsmühle was first mentioned in a document in 1858, and it is assumed that it was built in the same period.
After the mill was closed at the beginning of the 20th century, the mill was used as a restaurant.
