history

On the Bever was first mentioned in 900 and 1050, but the time of origin of the settlement is assumed for the period between 600 and 700 in the time of the second Saxon conquest. Thus Auf der Bever is one of the early settlements in Halver.

At the latest since the early Middle Ages (according to other information since prehistoric times) an important old road from Wipperfürth to Breckerfeld ran past Auf der Bever .

Around 1500 it is documented by documents that two farms in the Bever were subject to taxes in the Bergisches Amt Beyenburg . The jurisdiction of the court was subordinate to a Bergisch judge specially appointed for the Bergische Höfe in the parish of Halver, which is otherwise dominated by the Mark, which often led to a dispute with the march count actually responsible for the parish .

In 1818 36 people lived in the village. According to the table of localities and distances from the government district of Arnsberg , Auf der Bever was categorized as a farm under the name Bever and in 1838 had a population of 35, of which eleven were Catholic and 24 were Protestant. At that time the place belonged to the Eickhöfer peasantry within the mayor's office of Halver and owned six residential buildings and three agricultural buildings.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of six residents who lived in a residential building.
