Oberlangenscheid is a district of Halver in the Märkisches Kreis in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Oberlangenscheid is located 400 meters above sea ​​level north of the main town in Halver, north of Eichholz . In addition to the main town, the other neighboring towns are the suburbs of Weißenpferd , Dicksiepen , Schlechtenbach , Clev and Oeckinghausen . The place can be reached via a spur road that branches off from the federal road 229 at Eichholz and also connects Niederlangenscheid and Dicksiepen, as well as from an access road from the state road L528.

A tributary of the Langenscheid Bach , a tributary of the Schlechtenbach, rises in the village .

An industrial park extends between Oberlangenscheid and Eichholz.

history

Oberlangenscheid was first mentioned in a document in 1599, the time of origin of the settlement is probably shortly before 1557. Oberlangenscheid was a split from the Niederlangenscheid court.

In 1818 22 people lived in the village. According to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , Oberlangenscheid was categorized as a farm under the name Obern Langenscheid and in 1838 had a population of 34, all of whom were Protestant. At that time, the place belonged to the Halveran village farmers within the mayor's office of Halver and owned four residential buildings, a factory or mill and two agricultural buildings.

The municipality lexicon for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 49 inhabitants who lived in four houses.
