history

Stieneichhofen was first mentioned in a document after 800, but the origin of the settlement is assumed to be between 600 and 700 during the second Saxon conquest. Stieneichhofen is one of the oldest settlements in Halver.

From the 11th century on, Stieneichhofen was a farmyard , a manor fortified by a moat . The court was not inhabited by aristocrats, but was an upper court of the noble monastery of St. Gereon .

In 1818 six people lived in the village. According to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , Stieneichhofen was categorized as a farm under the name Stieneneichhofen and in 1838 had a population of twelve, all of whom were Protestant. At that time the place was the titular place of the Eickhöfer peasantry within the mayor's office of Halver and owned two residential buildings and four agricultural buildings.

The community encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 15 residents who lived in a residential building.

At the latest since the early Middle Ages (according to other sources since prehistoric times) an important old road from Wipperfürth to Breckerfeld ran past Steineichhofen . To the north of the village there is a ring wall on the Bollberg , which, according to excavations (ceramic finds from the 9th century) and recent research, is interpreted as a Franconian extension and refuge castle to secure this old road. Stieneichhofen served as the residence and administrative seat of this castle.
