history

Othmaringhausen ("House of the clan of Othmars") was first mentioned in a document in 1277, but the time of origin of the settlement ( -inghausen -form) is assumed to be between 500 and 550 as a result of the first Saxon conquest. Thus, Othmaringhausen is one of the oldest settlements in Halver.

In 1818 there were 16 people living in the village. In 1838, Othmaringhausen belonged to the Gloerfeld peasantry under the name of Otmeringhausen within the Halver mayor . The place, which was categorized as a courtyard according to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , had two residential buildings and four agricultural buildings at that time. At that time there were 20 people living in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 42 inhabitants who lived in three houses.
