history

Dommelnheide was first mentioned in a document in 1546, but the time of origin of the settlement is assumed to be between 1050 and 1200 as a result of the clearing phase after the high medieval territorial formation. Dommelnheide was a split off from Edelkirchen .

1818 residents lived in the village. According to the table of localities and distances in the government district of Arnsberg , Dommelnheide was categorized as a farm and in 1838 had a population of 26, all of whom were Protestant. At that time the place belonged to the Glörfeld farmers within the mayor's office of Halver and owned three houses and three agricultural buildings.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 29 inhabitants who lived in three houses.

An old road from Halver via Wipperfürth , Halver, Kierspe to Meinerzhagen ran past Dommelnheide on the route of today's state road 528 , the Hileweg , an important early medieval (according to other views already early historical ) trade , pilgrimage and military route .
