The source of the Volme is located on the south-eastern outskirts of Meinerzhagen at 460  m above sea level. NN and one kilometer east of the Agger spring .

It flows through, accompanied by the Volmetal train and the B54 , including the cities of Meinerzhagen and Kierspe , the district Oberbrügge the city Halver , the Lüdenscheider district Bruges , the districts Schalksmühle and Dahlerbrück the town of Schalksmühle and neighborhoods Rummenohl , priory , Dahl , Ambrock , Eilpe , Mitte and Eckesey of the independent city of Hagen.
