course
The Hälver rises in the east of the small town of Halver in North Rhine-Westphalia . From there it runs north, where after about three kilometers it first crosses the Halverner district of Heesfeld and then Carthausen , where it meets the Landesstraße 868 / Hälver Straße. Along this, the Hälver continues northwards until it flows into the Volme at Schalksmühle .
In addition to a number of small unnamed tributaries and streams, the Hälver has a larger left tributary; the Bräumke flows into the Hälver near Carthausen.
