Vollme is a residential area in the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Kierspe in the Märkisches Kreis . The place lies below the Jubach dam at the confluence of the Jubach and Volme , about 2.5 kilometers north of the Kiersper town center. It is crossed by the federal highway 54 and the Hagen – Dieringhausen (Volmetalbahn) line.

history

The history of Vollme is closely linked to metalworking , which played a decisive role in the county of Mark on the way to industrialization . Since the 18th century at the latest, the place has been the seat of several master craftsmen . In 1784 the Reidemeisterhaus Voswinkel was built, which is now a listed building. In 1823, Vollme is listed in statistics of the Prussian state under the name (Auf der) Vollme as " Osemundhammer u. Koth [en] ”with 32 inhabitants.

In the early 19th century, technical advances, such as the puddling process , made the Osemund increasingly obsolete. The last Osemundhammer in Volmetal ceased production in the 1850s. The Vollmer Reidemeister reacted by diversifying their product range - they now manufactured not only semi-finished goods but also the end products and, from the end of the 19th century, shifted their entrepreneurial focus to commission business .

The last metalworking company in Vollme stopped production in 1967. At that time he still had 19 employees.

traffic

Vollme is connected to public transport via the Vollme Jubach and Vollme Bahnhof bus stops , which are served by the Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft . From 1892 to 1976 there was also a station on the Volmetalbahn, about 800 meters outside the village . The reception building, which has been a listed building since 1987 , was removed from the Kiersper monument list and demolished in 2009.

In December 2017, the Volmetalbahn between the Meinerzhagen and Bruges (Westf) stations was reactivated, but the Vollme station was not taken into account in the planning.
