The station Meinerzhagen has existed since 1892. It is located on the Hagen-Dieringhausen railway (Volmetal train) and is managed by DB Station & Service in the second lowest station category operated 6 and out. There is also a branch line to Krummenerl, which is only used by freight traffic.
Meinerzhagen was first connected to the rail network on July 1, 1892, when the section between Bruges and Meinerzhagen was put into operation on the Volmetalbahn (Hagen – Dieringhausen railway). The construction of a continuation of the line from Meinerzhagen to Olpe and thus to Siegerland, planned in 1902, ended in Krummenerl in 1927 .
history
Meinerzhagen station was previously served by the following connections:
- Express train : Cologne – Hagen (until 1979)
- Dieringhausen – Hagen (1979–1981)
- Cologne– Bruges (Westf) (1981–1984)
- City railway : Cologne – Meinerzhagen (1984–1986)
- Local train : Dieringhausen – Bruges (Westf)
- Meinerzhagen – Krummenerl (1927–1955)
- Express train : Lüdenscheid - Cologne
- Local train : Essen - Waldbröl
Decommissioned in 1986
On the single-track railway line from Hagen to Dieringhausen , passenger traffic in the section near Meinerzhagen was stopped on May 31, 1986 , the station building was cleared in 1983 and demolished in 1987.
Reactivation from 2012
According to the concept “ Regional Integrated Development and Action Concept Above the Volme”, the qualification of the Meinerzhagen train station and the surrounding area should take place in Meinerzhagen.
As part of the Regionale 2013 , after the reactivation of the station, it was planned to expand the transport interface rail, bus, park & ride, bike & ride. In addition, the connection between Meinerzhagen station and the town center is to be made more attractive.
The construction work for the planned reactivation began in October 2012. First of all, all existing track systems were removed in order to lay two new tracks. The work was delayed due to the bankruptcy of a construction company; so that when the timetable changed in December 2013, Meinerzhagen was served by Deutsche Bahn with rail replacement buses in the direction of Dieringhausen . Since February 27, 2014, passenger trains have been running continuously from Meinerzhagen station via Cologne main station to the Cologne Hansaring stop .
A pedestrian bridge was built over the tracks so that pedestrians from the street below can get up a flight of stairs to the embankment and further up over the tracks and then back down the stairs to the central platform. Two elevators were installed. On the other hand, the bridge also opens up the higher-lying district of Bamberg at the same level. Access to the platform via a simple staircase from Bahnhofstrasse below the tracks by means of an underpass up to the platform was not planned.
Meinerzhagen station was the terminus of regional train line 25 ( Oberbergische Bahn ) from December 15, 2013 to December 9, 2017 . With the timetable change in 2017, the extension was on the station Kierspe and Lüdenscheid-Bruges station to station Lüdenscheid commissioned.
