Homert is a hamlet in the southeast of the district town of Lüdenscheid in the western Sauerland , North Rhine-Westphalia . It belongs to the statistical district  10 ( Bierbaum / Höh / Hellersen ).

Geographical location

The hamlet of Homert is located in the Ebbegebirge in the Ebbegebirge Nature Park . It is located approximately 4.5 km south of the Lüdenscheider downtown and about 300 m (depending crow flies ) southeast of the Homert Summit ( 538.3  m above sea level.  NN ) down to 500 521  m height. To the east, the forest landscape falls on the other side of the federal highway 45 to the nearby Versetalsperre ; The Jubach and Fürwiggetalsperre are also in the immediate vicinity . The Volme tributary Jubach rises southwest of the hamlet .

history

The name of the mountain and hamlet is derived from the term "Hohe Mark"; In this context, Mark was a community forest. In the Middle Ages, the hamlet was the center of one of ten farmers in the parish of Lüdenscheid. Since 1843 the mountain and hamlet belonged to the municipality of Lüdenscheid-Land in the Lüdenscheid district . With effect from January 1, 1969, the union with the city of Lüdenscheid took place.

Worth seeing

The settlement of Homert is characterized by several historic farm properties in the quarry stone plaster construction typical of the region. In the hamlet was the Wissing excursion restaurant with a coffee garden, which was closed in the late 1970s or early 1980s.

The on the Homert summit built, the prospect of serving Homertturm allows visitors sweeping views over the Sauerland to the limits of the Ruhr . The SGV hut “An der Homert” and the “Fritz Kaether hut” are at its foot .

Rail transport

The closest train stations are Lüdenscheid and Bruges (Westphalia) . Both are easily accessible by car and in summer on Sundays by bus in a few minutes.

Bus transport

The connection to the local public transport is made by occasional school buses and the line 252 (hiking bus route on Sundays) of the Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) . The “Steakhaus Piepersloh” bus stop is also located at the main traffic junction to the north-west. It is a junction for several regional bus routes operated by the Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) . The only bus stop in the hamlet is called: "Homert".

Road traffic

State road  696 ( Werkshagener Straße ) runs directly to the east past the hamlet of Homert and leads from the direction of Lüdenscheid past Homert to Reblin and in the direction of the Piepersloh district of Lüdenscheid to the Lüdenscheid-Süd junction ( no.15 ) of the 45 federal motorway ( Sauerland line ). The motorway, which also has the Lüdenscheid (14) and Lüdenscheid-Nord (No. 13) junctions further north and the Meinerzhagen junction (16) a little south of Homert , leads north to Hagen and Dortmund and south to Siegen , Wetzlar , Giessen and Frankfurt am Main . Federal highway 54 runs a few kilometers to the west .

Hiking trails

There are various options for walks and hikes on hiking trails , for example to the Fürwiggetalsperre or the Versetalsperre . The core town of Lüdenscheid is also easily accessible via a few kilometers on foot.
