Educational institutions

Primary school "Tinsberger Schule"

The primary school "Tinsberger Schule" is located at Obertinsberger Str. 16. The Theodor-Heuss-Realschule resided in this building from 1969 to 1980 . However, since there were massive problems with space for the secondary school, a new building was built for the school at Wefelshohl . This was ceremoniously opened on December 5th, 1980 and since then the building of the "Tinsberger Schule" has mostly been used only as a primary school.

Johanniter day care center "Adventure Land"

Since the end of 2012, there have been considerations of setting up a day-care center for U3 care in a corner building at Brüderstraße 41/43.

On Monday, January 21, 2013, a report appeared in the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten, from which it emerged that the association Johanniter-Unfallhilfe , Regionalverband Südwestfalen, would like to take over the sponsorship of the new day care center "Brüderstraße". At the beginning of the kindergarten year on August 1, 2013, two groups with a total of 40 places were to be created in the two buildings at Brüderstraße 41/43. Of these, 12 are places for the care of children under the age of three. Due to the Johanniter day-care center “Mittelstraße” already not far away in the city center, the youth welfare office of the city of Lüdenscheid assumes that this provider will also be well received by the residents on Brüderstraße.

As a result, the youth welfare committee unanimously agreed to the administrative proposal on January 29, 2013, that the Johanniter-Unfallhilfe association , Regionalverband Südwestfalen, would be the sponsor for the new day-care center at Brüderstraße 41/43.

On Wednesday, August 21, 2013, the new Johanniter day-care center “Adventure Land” opened at Brüderstraße 41/43 with 35 children. The official opening ceremony followed on October 17, 2013 with invited guests in the morning and with parents and children in the afternoon. The special thing about the Johanniter-Kita “Abenteuerland” is that for the first time in Lüdenscheid an apartment building has been converted into a day-care center. The two-group facility extends over three floors and can accommodate 40 children between the ages of two and six. According to the Johannitern, there is a great need for a day-care center close to home in the district. The places were taken very quickly, and there are currently 14 children on the waiting list for U-3 care. In total, there are children from eleven nationalities in the new daycare center. The multicultural diversity should also be used as a great opportunity. The boys and girls could learn languages playfully from an early age and gain important experience in dealing with people from other cultures. The current team at the day care center consists of six pedagogical specialists and one federal volunteer.

Day care center of the German Red Cross (DRK)

There is also a day care center run by the German Red Cross (DRK) at Obertinsberger Str. 46 . The day-care center offers 50 places for children from the age of 3 to school entry. There are a total of two main groups with 25 seats each.

Infrastructure

The structure of the district is mainly characterized by numerous apartment buildings from different building periods. Many of these houses have been extensively renovated in recent years. In addition to the residential buildings, there are a number of larger and smaller shops in the district. Many retail and catering facilities are grouped around the centrally located bus and street junction at Kluser Platz. There is also a pharmacy and several medical practices in the district.

At the end of Obertinsberger Straße there is also an allotment garden with several plots. Most of the district is still criss-crossed by a lot of trees and green spaces, despite the development that grew at the time.

In the street “Am Lehmberg” there is a small industrial and commercial area. A few years ago, Stadtwerke Lüdenscheid erected a representative new building between Brüderstraße, Altenaer Straße and Lennestraße .

At the end of the Brüderstraße there has been a large full-range supplier with an attached parking garage for several decades . A few years ago, this building was completely renovated and converted by a new operator.

In October 2012, several residents took the initiative at the playground on Richardstrasse and within a few hours cut back the bushes, swept up leaves, trimmed hedges and removed rubbish. In addition to the nicer look of the living area, the campaign had another positive effect: the cohesion in the neighborhood and solidarity with one another have grown further thanks to the project.
