history

In the Middle Ages, Brüninghausen was one of ten farmers in the parish of Lüdenscheid. They are said to have existed since at least the 13th century. Since 1843 the place belonged to the municipality Lüdenscheid-Land in the office Lüdenscheid . With effect from January 1, 1969, like most of the rural community, it was united with the town of Lüdenscheid. Brüninghausen gained industrial importance with the construction of the plate steel works at the beginning of the 19th century. The increase in importance also manifested itself in the construction of the Protestant church in 1912. Since 1925 Brüninghausen was connected to the railway network of the Altenaer Eisenbahn . There was a branch line to Augustenthal on the Lüdenscheid- Werdohl line , which was used for freight traffic until 1967.

Infrastructure

There is a municipal kindergarten, a Protestant church and a Protestant cemetery on site. The traditional primary school was run as a sub-location of the Kalve school for two years after school districts were closed before it was finally closed in 2009.

The so-called Brüninghauser Halle , located at Platehofstraße 64, serves as the venue . At the end of January 2013, a new tenant wants to take over the catering business in the hall, as the restaurant and the adjoining hall building were closed for a few months due to the lack of a new successor. Until then, the building is to be extensively renovated. The redesign measures are being led by the sponsor of the house, the Brüninghauser Halle Association. The building itself also belongs to the association. The club consists of the gymnastics club Brüninghausen, the soldiers 'comradeship and the senior citizens' comradeship of the Brüninghausen fire brigade.

For a long time the district had the characteristics of a sub-center . However, before school all retail establishments had closed. The connection to the public transport is done by bus lines 42 and 243 (school bus line) of the Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVG) . Economically, the local steelworks Platestahl dominates with over 200 employees.

Environmental park

In the vicinity of the Brüninghauser Halle on Platehofstrasse, an environmentally friendly residential complex with 16 single and double houses is to be built. The buildings are to be equipped with heat pumps and, if desired, with solar systems. The project is to be funded with funds from the Reconstruction Loan Corporation (KfW) .
