Location of Eichholz in Lüdenscheid

Eichholz is the name of a district of Lüdenscheid and belongs to the statistical district 05 ( Honsel / Eichholz) of the district town of Lüdenscheid in the western Sauerland , North Rhine-Westphalia . Especially the street Im Eichholz, the Rosenweg, and parts of the Glatzer Straße as well as the surrounding streets are counted as Eichholz. To the north of the Honsel is the Vogelberg district . In the south of the Eichholz lies the district of Honsel and in the west the district of Tinsberg , while the district of Kalve adjoins it in the east . Some parts of the Worth district have also been counted statistically in the Eichholz district since 2010.

history

The small train called “Schnurre” of the Altenaer Eisenbahn district contributed to the development of the district. It connected the two industrial cities of Lüdenscheid and Werdohl through the Versetal and over the Höhensattel on the Worth and ensured that both people and goods could be transported more easily to Eichholz. The role of transport route was largely taken over by the surrounding streets and the nearby federal road B229 after the end of the small train .

Many streets within the Eichholz are named after different types of flowers, such as B. Asternweg, Nelkenweg, Rosenweg, Tulpenweg and Veilchenweg.

Infrastructure

General

The structure of the district is mainly characterized by many detached single-family houses and terraced houses. In the course of the further part of the city some apartment buildings were built. Many of these houses have been extensively renovated in recent years. In addition to the residential buildings, there are a number of larger and smaller shops in the district. A few retail and catering establishments are grouped in the upper Glatzer Straße in particular. There are also several medical practices in the district.

retail trade

A large full-range supplier has existed at Glatzer Straße 1 for several decades . The building was extensively renovated a few years ago by the successor to the old operator. There is also a bakery, flower shop, and newsagent in the building itself. In addition to the full-range supplier, there is also a petrol station.

A company already located at the Worth intersection, which has been selling agricultural products and articles for household and gardening needs there for a long time, has bought the adjoining and derelict industrial complex and intends to expand with a new building at this location. With the acquisition of the area, the demolition of the factory buildings and the construction of a new market in the immediate vicinity of the local supply center at the full-range supplier, a complete redesign of the location is imminent. While the city administration of Lüdenscheid has basically given the go-ahead for the company's plans, questions remain unanswered, especially with regard to the connection of the market area to Glatzer Strasse and Werdohler Landstrasse. In order to be able to answer this, the investors have commissioned the preparation of a traffic report, which should be available shortly.

At the beginning of June 2014 there was a public hearing on the project for the new building at the Worth intersection. The premises of the abandoned company are to be completely demolished and replaced by a new building. The old building will continue to be used as a warehouse for the company. In the new building, the company wants to expand from 200 m² to 2000 m² of retail space. The new store would therefore be the company's largest branch in all of South Westphalia. Construction of the building should start in one to two years. Basically there was little opposition to the project, but some residents fear higher traffic in the area.

At the end of 2014, the planning committee and the council changed the zoning plan for the company's new building. According to the company, it is still unclear when the project will be physically implemented. Politically, however, the re-use of the currently vacant industrial area is viewed positively. It is also welcomed that a regional provider wants to settle there. The sales area of the new store should total 1930 square meters. The cul-de-sac to the market is to be widened like a funnel. Possibly. the remaining tracks of the Altenaer Eisenbahn (KAE) district are also to be removed when the building is rebuilt.

Community elementary school "Adolf Kolping School"

The “Adolf Kolping School” community elementary school at Danziger Weg 45 is the closest elementary school. In 2010 this school was extensively renovated as part of the economic stimulus package 2. For this, the entire elementary school with all the students and all inventory had to move temporarily into the vacant building of the former secondary school in Wefelshohl. Half a year later the primary school moved back to its old location at Danziger Weg 45.

The different houses in the Eichholz district and the extensive footpaths in the district invite you to take a walk.

Many green spaces shape the image of the district. The district itself is almost completely surrounded by forests and meadows.

There are some newly designed playgrounds for children in the district.

The B 229 is also on the edge of the Eichholz and is easily accessible. A few parking spaces within the Eichholz ensure that drivers can park there.

The nearby "Worth" traffic junction has been one of the most important traffic junctions in the city of Lüdenscheid for many years. From here several important roads lead to other parts of the city as well as to the surrounding cities.
