Educational institutions

Planned day care center of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) in the Kluser School

The old Kluser School at Kluser Straße 35, which was the seat of several associations until 2013, is to house three new daycare groups for children under 3 years of age. That is why the clubs located there have already received their terminations. Before that, the building had already been used as the previous location for the open day at the nearby Tinsberg primary school .

On Monday, January 21, 2013, a report appeared in the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten, from which it emerged that the new opening of a kindergarten in the Kluser School is currently being planned. After an intensive search for a provider for the daycare center in the previous days, the administration of the city of Lüdenscheid proposed the Awo as the provider to the youth welfare committee, which met on January 29 at 5 p.m. in the council chamber . There should be a total of 60 places in the new daycare center in the Kluser School, including 18 for U3 care. The Awo also currently maintains the “Kluser Schule Kindertreff” in the building. On January 29, 2013, the youth welfare committee unanimously agreed to the administrative proposal that Awo should also be the sponsor for the new day care center at the Kluser School.

On April 6, 2013, another report appeared in the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten that the city administration of Lüdenscheid wants to initiate two new renovation projects in the old Kluser school and on Duisbergweg in order to continue the lack of kindergarten places for children under three years of age (U3) to defuse.

In its meeting on April 15, the city council made an unscheduled provision of 561,000 euros in renovation costs for the Kluser school. Of these, 60 daycare places are to be set up in the building that is still the headquarters of the traffic watch and other associations, 18 of them in the U3 area. According to the city administration, the facility will cost 180,000 euros. To finance the renovation, it is proposed to use around 440,000 euros in Kita construction funds. In addition, 96,000 euros in state funding should come this year, and the city of Lüdenscheid still has 25,000 euros because it was able to repay a building loan early. A fire protection report was also commissioned in advance, because time is of the essence: From August 1st, children under three will be legally entitled to a place in kindergarten.

From a report by Lüdenscheider Nachrichten on April 17, 2013, it became known that the renovation costs for the Kluser School will now amount to 541,000 euros. According to the city administration of Lüdenscheid, the building applications have already been submitted.

On December 23, 2013, another report appeared in the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten that the renovation of the Kluser School is currently in full swing. The workers are currently busy re-concreting and cladding the ceilings on the first floor. The house itself dates back to 1884. In addition to a fundamental modernization of the rooms, the renewal of the ceilings had become necessary, as the existing wooden beam constructions had serious static and structural defects.

The former building of the traffic watch and various other associations will soon reduce the shortage of kindergarten places in the city of Lüdenscheid. 60 new daycare places are to be created, 18 of which are intended for children under three years of age. The additional work required for the core renovation had increased the construction volume from 600,000 euros to almost one million euros. Around 180,000 euros of this will go towards furnishing the house. The building is scheduled to open as a day-care center on August 1, 2014. From this day on, children under three years of age have a legal right to a place in a kindergarten.

Existing day care center of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) in the multi-generation house on Duisbergweg

At Duisbergweg 3 there has been the AWO day care center Duisbergweg in the multi-generation house for several years. It currently comprises 2 groups that look after children between 4 months and school entry.

In the multi-generation house of the Awo on Duisbergweg, new daycare places are also being created, and new U3 places are to be added here as well. Therefore, on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 (5 p.m. in the council chamber), the building committee dealt with the plan to expand the building to the previously existing garden area. Therefore, according to the administration, neither early citizen participation nor the questioning of “public interests” such as municipal utilities or environmental protection authorities are necessary for this construction project. But even in the accelerated process for the Duisbergweg development plan, citizens should be able to speak up as soon as the finished plans are publicly displayed.
