Kalve is the name of a district and belongs to the statistical district 08 (Kalve / Wefelshohl ) of the district town of Lüdenscheid in the western Sauerland , North Rhine-Westphalia . The district and the statistical district are located in the southeast of downtown Lüdenscheid . Since 2010, the district is located west Leif Ringshausen with the statistical district 08 (Kalve / Wefelshohl) counted.

history

In 2010 the Kalve elementary school celebrated its 125th anniversary. To commemorate the long history of the school, the old fountain from that time is still in the entrance hall.

On February 17, 2013 a report appeared in the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten that a year and a half after the closure of the Hebberg youth center in September 2013, a new youth center will open in the building of the Kalve elementary school. The administration of the city of Lüdenscheid put the corresponding renovation costs at just under 50,000 euros. This emerged from a proposed resolution that the youth welfare committee dealt with on February 26th at 5 p.m. in the council chamber of the city of Lüdenscheid.

According to the new administrative draft, the new youth club could move into rooms in the basement of the Kalve elementary school. So far, the rooms were used for care “eight to one”. A classroom on the ground floor and the school library next to it should now be used for this purpose.

The library moved to the administration wing of the Kalve elementary school. The target group of the new youth club are young people between the ages of 12 and 18. Initially, opening times are Tuesday to Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. However, no additional staff should be employed for the youth club. Instead, the existing staff from the other youth clubs should also look after the facility.

After the renovation, the school could also use the rooms of the youth club for individual support during school hours. The staff of the Kalver School also see a greater need for this.

The Kalve youth club was opened at the beginning of February 2014. The two rooms of the youth club are in the building of the Kalver school. From Tuesday to Friday, the doors are open to young people between the ages of 12 and 18. The Kalve youth club offers games and table football, a Playstation and TV, billiards and internet access. The meeting was officially presented on February 21, 2014 at 5 p.m., a completely normal opening day, on which the young people came, but the youth welfare committee of the city of Lüdenscheid also visited the facility.

Structure of the district

The structure of the district is mainly characterized by many detached single-family houses and terraced houses. Numerous multi-family houses were built in the course of the further district. Due to the quiet and central location of the district, many families with children settled in the district. The transition to the surrounding districts of Hellersen and Wefelshohl is hardly noticeable due to the dense development. On the outskirts of the district towards Brüninghausen and Wettringhof , however, extensive forest areas begin, which can be accessed by numerous paths.

Below the Kalve district there is a small industrial area with several companies on Hueckstraße. Another larger industrial area extends over the upper Kalver Strasse and the entire Nottebohmstrasse, as well as the adjacent Jüngerstrasse. At the beginning of Kalver Straße there is also the main customs office of Lüdenscheid as well as a large furniture shop, which until November 2012 also had an attached café with a pastry shop.

In the "Wibschla" street north of the Kalve, there has been a massive development of the newly created commercial and industrial area for several years. In 2011 alone, four new companies settled on around 30,000 square meters on the approximately nine hectare urban site. Another company already located there planned to expand its company premises in 2011.

In the Kalve district itself there are also 2 hotels that can offer tourists and business travelers attractive accommodation. One of the two hotels also houses a sports park for several sports, which includes a 20 m high indoor climbing wall as well as 2 indoor soccer fields and 4 badminton courts . The complex is currently being completely rebuilt by investors. After the renovation, there will be 10 more rooms as well as a new sauna and a new whirlpool in the hotel. The gastronomy and sports areas are also to be completely revised.

Several bakeries and 2 butchers ensure the basic supply in the district. The nearest supermarkets and discount stores are in the surrounding districts.

Planning of an additional "local supply center in Bräucken"

2010

In addition to the existing shops at the main traffic intersection in "Bräucken", a new "local supply center Bräucken" was planned on Bromberger Straße. Lt. The newspaper "Westfälische Rundschau" was to build a new retail location with a large-scale full supplier , grocery discounter , drugstore and beverage store and a bakery on the fallow land between Bromberger Strasse and Bräuckenstrasse, opposite the confluence with Nottebohmstrasse . 3300 square meters of sales area were targeted there.

2013

On March 9, 2013, a report appeared in the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten that the development plan for the new "local supply center Bräucken" had been approved by the city of Lüdenscheid. As a result, the areas of the former discounter located on the site were completely demolished. The site between Bromberger Strasse and Bräuckenstrasse is now owned by a neighboring Lüdenscheid real estate company. As planned in 2010, a large-scale full -service provider , a grocery discounter and a drugstore have been built on the site. The neighboring Lüdenscheid real estate company wants to complete the new buildings on the site by the end of 2013 and open the shops for the opening.

According to a report from the Lüdenscheider Nachrichten, the first store of the new "Fachmarktzentrum Schlittenbach" (former planning name: "Nahversorgungszentrum Bräucken") opened on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 8 o'clock. The other companies also opened until Christmas 2013.

After the opening of the first shop, a lottery ticket shop with a post office opened, followed a short time later by a bakery with a café and the Volksbank with a self-service branch. On Thursday, November 28, 2013, a drugstore also opened on the premises. 11 new jobs were created in the drugstore.

On Tuesday, December 3, 2013, another grocery store opened with a beverage shop employing a total of 31 people.
