Leifringhausen ( Lüdenscheider Platt : Laiwrin ) is the name of a district and belongs to the statistical district 08 ( Kalve / Wefelshohl ) of the district town of Lüdenscheid in the western Sauerland , North Rhine-Westphalia . The district and the statistical district are located in the southeast of downtown Lüdenscheid .

history

A first written, albeit controversial mention Leif ring Stockhausen as Leffrinchusin already been 1124. Thus, Pope Callistus II. The monastery Rastede in Oldenburg the place as part of his Westphalian estate. The name means something like settlement of the people of a Liofger, Liofhard or z. B. Liofward; the syllable Liof- means (just like Leif / Läiw in Lüdenscheider Platt) "dear". The settlement probably goes back to the phase of the Old Saxon conquest in the early Middle Ages . Since the 13th century at the latest, it has been the center of one of the ten important farmers in the parish of Lüdenscheid. Well known in the history of the town of Lüdenscheid is the Leifringhausen farm chief Jakob Fischer (1592–1653). In addition, he was parish tax collector and church master . In his positions during the Thirty Years' War he campaigned for the interests of peasants and the poor and reorganized the Lüdenscheider riflemen who served the city's defense . Outside the urban Feldmark located in the parish Lüdenscheid, Leif Ringshausen was since 1843 part of the municipality of Lüdenscheid-Land , Office Lüdenscheid . On January 1, 1969, it was incorporated into the city.

Infrastructure

For generations the village restaurant Wagner with its attached ballroom has been something like the central facility in Leifringhausen. The building has been preserved, but the restaurant has been closed for over two decades. On the north-western edge of the village and within walking distance is the Sauerland-Ost motorway service station on the A 45. To the north, but not noticeable because of a ridge in the village, is the former Kleinleifringhausen waste dump belonging to the city of Lüdenscheid. The village community was able to successfully defend itself against a planned wind turbine .

Location and settlement structure

Like many medieval settlements in the Märkisches Sauerland , Leifringhausen arose in a basin above the swampy valley floor and protected from the wind below the ridge of a ridge. This situation is still fully understandable today. In addition to the formerly rural clustered village , various newer residential buildings, with a few exceptions, single-family houses have been built in the last few decades. The village character was preserved. The farm properties, some of which are several hundred years old, have all been redesigned through supposed modernization; its original regional character can often only be guessed at. Leifringhausen is separated from the core town of Lüdenscheid by the A 45 (Sauerland line) that passed the western edge of the village at the beginning of the 1970s . To the north, east and south the place borders on the predominantly landscaped, intact, wooded and, in terms of relief, heavily moved outdoor area . Via a spur road are by Leif Ringshausen from the eastern hamlet special field and return Siepen reach.
