The Iserlohn station is in the center of Iserlohn located breakpoint . It lies at the end of two single-track railway lines, the Ardey Railway from Schwerte and the line from Iserlohn-Letmathe . Since the new building in 2008, it has been called the city station.
history
Iserlohn station was opened in 1864 together with the Letmathe – Iserlohn line, which was extended in 1885 to Hemer and on to Fröndenberg . In 1910 the Ardey Railway was added to Schwerte. In 1966 the old station building was replaced by a new one.
In 1989, the Letmathe – Fröndenberg railway between Iserlohn Ost station and Hemer was shut down due to a dilapidated bridge . The rest between Iserlohn and Iserlohn Ost was still used by freight trains until 1995 .
Since the last switch in the former Iserlohn train station was also removed when the line was dismantled, the operations center is no longer a train station, but only a stopping point on two independent lines. However, the regional association SPNV Ruhr-Lippe is required to reinstall a switch connection.
The station building from the 1960s was demolished in 2007/2008 and rebuilt as a city station by a private investor. In addition to typical train station tenants (DB agency, catering), the city information center and the adult education center have also moved in. In addition to the station building, the platforms were also renewed in 2008 and the bus station with the station forecourt and a roundabout were built. A multi-storey car park (189 spaces) is also available.
On September 18, 2010, Iserlohn station was the first station to be awarded the title of hiking station because of its connection and proximity to the hiking infrastructure .
business
Platform 1 is a combined platform . The trains of the Ardeybahn stop on one side, and buses of the Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft stop on the other .
Although the new station building is now upside down, it is still possible to reactivate the Iserlohn – Hemer line (track would be laid between the station building and the retaining wall and further over the roundabout).
