Combined platform
A combined platform is a platform where you can switch between different means of transport that have different requirements in terms of route and / or platform height. It is a relatively young but now popular idea to better link public transport.
Typically, this is understood to mean a central platform with a rail vehicle ( train , subway , light rail or tram ) on one edge , but buses on the other side (possibly under a shared platform roof). Ideally, it should be possible to switch from a rail, light rail or tram car to a low-floor bus without having to climb a single step.
If the tram tracks are laid flush with the street on the “bus side” , the platform can also link these with the light rail or railroad.
The platforms that have recently become common in rail operations, with tracks on both sides, but with different platform heights, are usually not referred to as combined platforms. You have become necessary that z. B. In Germany, three different standard platform heights (55 cm, 76 cm and 96 cm) are common for new train stations.
