Genkel (Meinerzhagen)

Genkel is an agricultural hamlet that belongs to the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Meinerzhagen in the Märkisches Kreis and lies on the border with the Bergisches Land .

Genkel was mentioned for the first time in 1047 in the Werdener Urbar , as it was subject to a tenancy fee for the Werden Abbey , making it one of the oldest places in the Meinerzhagen parish . Originally Genkel is said to have been founded by a monk named Genkelius .
