Hardenberg is a small town and is located in the urban area of Meinerzhagen in North Rhine-Westphalia . Immediately south of the village is the Wesmecke Valley nature reserve . The only remaining ski lift is located next to the Landgasthof Haus Eckern. The Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft operates local public transport with the 96 bus.
