Railway stations in North Rhine-Westphalia |
The Rösrath train station is located in the center of the town of Rösrath in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .
history
Cologne-Mülheim – Lindlar railway line
The section of the Cologne-Mülheim-Lindlar railway from Bensberg to Hoffnungsthal was opened on July 1, 1890. From that time on, Rösrath had three stations together with the Forsbach station and Hope valley station . Passenger traffic on the route came to a standstill in 1960. The end for freight traffic followed in 1966.
Oberbergische Bahn
On July 30, 1910, Rösrath was connected to the new line of the Oberbergische Bahn . This is the course book route 459. It connects Cologne via Rösrath, Overath and Gummersbach with Lüdenscheid . A train journey from Cologne main station to Rösrath station takes around 20 minutes. Today the trains are only used for passenger transport. A park-and-ride parking lot near the bus stop is used in particular by commuters between Rösrath and Cologne.
Railway station facilities
Rösrath station belonged to station class IV. In addition to the reception building with official apartments, it had a goods shed and a toilet. The track system consisted of three platform tracks for passenger traffic and four butt tracks for freight and general cargo transport. Around a dozen points and several entry and exit signals were controlled from two mechanical interlockings . With the first electronic interlocking (ESTW) in September 1990, the mechanical interlocking was given up.
The Rösrath train station has been remote-controlled by the Honrath area control computer since 2003, and operation is carried out by the locally responsible Deutz II dispatcher from the Duisburg operations center. The track systems were gradually dismantled. The station building and the goods shed have been privately owned since then, and the former command station has been used as a residential building since the early 1990s.
monument
The station building has been entered in the list of architectural monuments in Rösrath under No. 62 since July 1988 .
