Building description

Reidemeisterhaus Voswinkel

The house is a stately, traditional, early classicist saddle-roofed gable house made of quarry stone as a plastered building, the facade of which is divided into five axes with a central entrance. The eaves side is of considerable length and divided into eight axes. The windows are in sandstone frames and some are barred. In front of the rear gable is a four-axis-deep extension. The skylight portal on the main facade forms a design unit with a straight, rich staircase. Simple benches are inserted here. The skylight of the portal, designated in 1784, is decorated with rich rocailles in keeping with the style of the time.

It has been included in the list of architectural monuments in Kierspe since March 6, 1985 and listed there under the serial number 5. It is also one of the technical monuments in the Märkisches Kreis.

history

The Reidemeisterhaus was built between 1782 and 1784. The builder was Osemund - Reidemeister Johann Peter Bredenbach. He was born in Vollme on May 25, 1745. His parents were the Reidemeister Johann Hermann Bredenbach and Maria Catharina geb. Funcke, born in Immelscheid.

Johann Peter Breidenbach owned the so-called “Oberste Gut” on the Vollme, half of the Braker Kotten and half of Wilmersberg, the Funcken-Gut on the Immelscheid and the associated Grünenschlader Kotten, in the village of Kierspe the so-called Schmidts-Kotten. He was half involved in the Vollmer and Hasendenner Osemundhammer. He also owned the Sankeler Mahlmühle 7/24.

The house is 19 meters long and 13 meters wide and 13 meters high. It is based on the Saxon-Sauerland farmhouse. Humans and animals lived under one roof. The living area is larger and separated from the stable area by a thick fire wall. The open fireplace was at the end of the residential wing. The Bredenbach coat of arms is attached to the left console of the chimney , the women's side is empty. The client was a bachelor and did not enjoy his house for long. He died on May 16, 1788 without a physical heir. Brother Christophel Johann Hermann Bredenbach bought the Vollmer property from his co-heirs for 6,000 Reichstaler. He borrowed 3,000 Reichstaler from his cousin, Johann Peter Funcke from Lüdenscheid. His youngest daughter Maria Elisabeth Bredenbach, the heiress of the house, married the Reidemeister Friedrich Theodor (I.) Voswinkel on August 24, 1806.

Grandfather clock

An old Bergisch grandfather clock from 1795 has been in the dining room of the Reidemeisterhaus since August 2011. It stood in the kitchen of the house until 1975 and, after brief restoration attempts, was placed in the attic of the house. It was found there in 2010. The clock was infected with woodworms and the bell cracked. With the help of a furniture restorer, the value of the watch was recognized. In the course of the restoration, the case, clockwork and the door of the dial were also replaced. Since the original porcelain dial has been lost, it has a simpler dial made of white lacquered aluminum.
