Ambrock

Ambrock is a location in the south of the independent city ​​of Hagen in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The settlement is located on the northern edge of the Sauerland in the valley of the Volme and extends up to the surrounding and predominantly wooded mountain ranges. It belongs to the district of Dahl in the Eilpe / Dahl district .

Greywack quarry Ambrock

The federal road 54 and the Volmetalbahn , which formerly also had a stop here, run through the valley of the Volme . In the valley there are some metal processing companies as well as residential buildings and catering establishments. To the west, on a mountain flank, is the Ambrock quarry , which is still in operation today and where Grauwacke is mined. At the western elevation is the building complex of the Hagen-Ambrock Specialist Clinic , an acute hospital and rehabilitation clinic specializing in pneumology and neurology . It was originally founded at the beginning of the 20th century as a lung sanatorium for patients suffering from tuberculosis and black lung disease and was expanded in later years. Today it belongs to the group of Helios clinics . To the south of the extensive park area is the Ribberthof , an agricultural property with an associated riding stables. In the immediate vicinity, on the wooded hilltop bordering towards Dahl, are the remains of an ancient rampart , the Wallburg Ambrock , which is designated as a cultural monument .
