Selbecke (Hagen)
Selbecke is the name of a local part of the independent city Hagen in the southeastern Ruhr .
On the Rafflenbeuler Berg between Mäcking and Zurstrasse, graves point to the conquest of the Saxons and Franks and to a time before Christianization.
Before the turn of the millennium, the Höhenweg (now called "Alter Postweg") was laid out. From 1788 to 1794 a fixed road was built from Hagen via Eilpe to Breckerfeld; the main road still follows this route today.
In Delstern , Eilpe and the Selbecke there is evidence of the extraction and processing of iron as early as the early centuries, as a Hütterhof (Hüttenberg) documented in 1523 attests, as well as the existence of “Groben” (pits) in the Mäckingerbachtal and Am Hirsch.
In 1880, Selbecke was identified as a hamlet with 45 inhabitants in a directory of the regional president in Arnsberg.
Before 1827, however, the Selbecke was incorporated into the municipality of Eilpe, which in turn was incorporated into the city of Hagen in 1876 (together with Wehringhausen ).
Today the Westphalian Open-Air Museum in the Mäckingerbachtal is a special feature in the museum landscape. Craft buildings and the first industrial buildings have been brought together here.
Line 4 (previously also 5, 6 or 7) of the Hagen tram ran to the Selbecke until 1964 . Today it is served by the urban bus line 512 of the Hagener Straßenbahn AG to Breckerfeld , the center of Hagen and Boele . In addition, the overland route 84 of the Märkische Verkehrsgesellschaft (original route 29 of Kraftverkehr Mark-Sauerland GmbH) to the city center of Hagen, to Breckerfeld, Halver and Kierspe, stops at selected stops .
