history

Borkshof was first mentioned in a document in 1480 as Königsbommert , but the date of origin of today's settlement is assumed to be between 800 and 900 in the wake of the early Franconian expansion period.

In the Middle Ages , Königsbommert / Borkshof was very likely a manor and manor house secured by a moat . However, no particular mansion has survived.

Around 1500 it is documented by documents that the Borkshof court was liable to the Bergisches Amt Beyenburg . The jurisdiction of the court was subordinate to a Bergisch judge specially appointed for the Bergische Höfe in the otherwise Brandenburg- dominated parish of Halver, which often led to a dispute with the Brandenburg count actually responsible for the parish .

In 1818 five residents lived in the village. In 1838 Borkshof belonged to the Bommerter peasantry within the Halver mayor . The place categorized as Kotten according to the place and distance table of the government district Arnsberg had a house, a factories or mill and an agricultural building at that time. At that time, four people lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

The community encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of five residents who lived in a residential building.

Since the early Middle Ages (according to other sources, since prehistoric times), an important old road passed east of Borkshof , the trade , pilgrimage and army route from Hagen via Breckerfeld , Halver and Rönsahl to Siegen . Königssbommert served to secure this old road.
