Niederbolsenbach was first mentioned in a document in 1462, but the time of origin of the settlement is presumed to be between 1050 and 1200 as a result of the clearing phase after the high medieval territorial formation. Niederbolsenbach was a split from the Oberbolsenbach court.

1818 residents lived in the village. According to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , Niederbolsenbach was categorized as a farm under the name of Niedern Bolsenbach and in 1838 had a population of 10, all of whom were Protestant. The place belonged to the Lausberger peasantry within the mayor's office Halver and had two houses, a factory or mill and two agricultural buildings.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 31 residents who lived in three houses.
