Location of Eichhofermühle in Halver

Eichhofermühle is a former watermill and is now part of the town of Halver in the Märkisches Kreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

Eichhofermühle is located in the west of the Halveraner urban area in the valley of the Ennepe . The neighboring towns are Löhrmühle , Beisen , Beiserohl , Niederennepe , Nordeln with the Nordeler Schleifkotten , Schüreichhofen and Stieneichhofen .

The place can be reached via a road that branches off the federal road 229 at Niederennepe and connects the villages in the Ennepetal. At Eichhofermühle, a tributary of the Ennepe flows from Schüreichhofen. North of the place is the Bollberg elevation .

history

The Eichhofermühle was built in 1811 as a split from Schüreichhofen. Nordeln is a split from the Stieneichhofen estate . Around 1875 the mill was put out of operation.

At the latest since the early Middle Ages (according to other sources since prehistoric times) an important old road from Wipperfürth to Breckerfeld ran west of Eichhofermühle . To the north of the village there is a ring wall on the Bollberg , which, according to excavations (ceramic finds from the 9th century) and recent research, is interpreted as a Franconian expansion and refuge castle to secure this old road.
