history

Altemühle was first mentioned in a document in 1465, but the time of origin of the settlement is believed to be between 1300 and 1400 following the second medieval clearing period. Altemühle was a split from the Hohenhausen farm (today it has risen in the northern center of the village).

In 1818 twelve people lived in the village. According to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , the place was categorized as a farm under the name Altenmühle and in 1838 had a population of 21, all of whom were Protestant. At that time the place belonged to the village farmers within the mayor's office of Halver and had four houses and one agricultural building.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 35 residents who lived in four houses.
