history

Oberbommert was first mentioned in a document in 1480, the date of origin of today's settlement is presumed to be in the first half of the 15th century as a result of the late medieval expansion period. Oberbommert is a split from the Niederbommert court .

Around 1500 it is documented by documents that half of the Oberbommert farm was subject to taxes to the Bergisches Amt Beyenburg . The jurisdiction of the court was subordinate to a Bergisch judge specially appointed for the Bergische Höfe in the otherwise Brandenburg- dominated parish of Halver, which often led to a dispute with the Brandenburg count actually responsible for the parish .

In 1818 six people lived in the village. In 1838 Oberbommert belonged as Obern-Bommert to the Bommerter peasantry within the mayor's office of Halver . The place, which was categorized as a courtyard according to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , had three residential buildings and two agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 13 residents lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 27 residents who lived in five houses.
