Niedervahlefeld was first mentioned in a document in 1480, but the time of origin of the settlement is assumed to be between 693 and 750 during the Saxon - Franconian border disputes. Thus Niedervahlefeld belongs to the early settlements of Halver.

In 1818, 31 people lived in Niedervahlefeld. According to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , the place was categorized as a farm under the name of Niedern-Valefeld and in 1838 had a population of 47, all of whom were Protestant. At that time, the place belonged to the Kamscheider peasantry within the mayor's office of Halver and owned six residential buildings and five agricultural buildings.

The community encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 71 inhabitants for Niedervahlefeld who lived in eleven houses.

At the latest since the early Middle Ages (according to other sources since prehistoric times) an important old road ran from Wipperfürth to Breckerfeld past Niedervahlefeld.
