history

Bergfeld was first mentioned in a document in 1469, but the time of origin of the settlement is assumed to be between 693 and 750 during the Saxon - Franconian border disputes.

In 1818 five residents lived in the village. According to the locality and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , Bergfeld was categorized as arable land and in 1838 had a population of nine, all of whom were Protestant. Bergfeld was the titular place of the Bergfeld farmers within the mayor's office of Halver and owned a house and two agricultural buildings.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 15 inhabitants who lived in three houses.

Two important old streets ran past Bergfeld , early medieval (according to other views, early historical ) trade , pilgrimage and military routes . On the one hand, the old road from Halver via Wipperfürth , Halver, Kierspe to Meinerzhagen , the Hileweg , and on the other, west of Bergfeld, the old road from Hagen to Siegen .
