history

On the Heede was first mentioned in a document in 1446, but the origin of the settlement is assumed to be between 1050 and 1200 as a result of the clearing phase after the high medieval territorial formation. On the Heede there was probably a split from the Engstfeld estate.

The Elberfeld line of the Bergische Landwehr ran south-west of the village from the Middle Ages until the early modern times .

Around 1500 is documented by documents that the farm Auf dem Heede was subject to the Bergisches Amt_Beyenburg . The jurisdiction of the court was subordinate to a Bergisch judge specially appointed for the Bergische Höfe in the otherwise Brandenburg- dominated parish of Halver, which often led to a dispute with the Brandenburg count actually responsible for the parish .

In 1818 there were 33 people living in the village. According to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , the place was categorized as a farm and in 1838 had a population of 35, all of whom were Protestant. At that time the place belonged to the Bommerter peasantry within the mayor's office of Halver and owned six residential buildings, two factories or mills and four agricultural buildings.

The community encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 46 inhabitants who lived in ten houses. The place was called Am Heede at that time .
