Yekaterina Sergejewna Maximowa ( Russian Екатерина Сергеевна Максимова ; born February 1, 1939 in Moscow ; † April 28, 2009 there ) was a Russian ballet dancer .

Ekaterina Maximowa was a star at Moscow's Bolshoi Theater from 1958 to 1988 . She was married to the dancer Vladimir Vasilyev for 50 years . They were the dream couple of Russian ballet at home and abroad.

Her star role was Klärchen , in the Russian original Mascha , in Peter Tchaikovsky's " Nutcracker ". Worldwide success she celebrated as Giselle in the ballet Adolphe Adam , as the host's daughter Kitri in Ludwig Minkus " Don Quixote ", a swan princess Odette and Odile in Tchaikovsky's " Swan Lake ", as Cinderella (Cinderella) in the ballet Sergei Prokofiev and Juliet in Prokofiev's " Romeo and Julia ”.

Her last appearance on the Bolshoi stage was on February 1st, 1999, her 60th birthday, in Michael Clark's mini ballet “The Gardens of Villandry” to music by Franz Schubert .

In 1981 she was awarded the State Prize of the USSR ; In 1973 she was honored as a People's Artist of the USSR .

The asteroid (4145) Maximova , discovered on September 29, 1981, was named after her in 1994.
