Oesterberg is an elevation and a district of Halver in the Märkisches Kreis in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Oesterberg lies at 420 meters above sea ​​level south of the main town and borders on its central locations. In addition to the main town, neighboring towns are the suburbs of Howarde , Neuenherweg , Im Heede , Kreuzweg , Ober- and Niederbolsenbach . Two source tributaries of the Bolsenbach enclose the elevation and the district. The route of the disused Wuppertal Railway, which has been converted into a cycling and hiking trail , runs along the northern edge . On the Oesterberg there is a sports field and a long gun shooting range. The Halveraner Festplatz and the Karlshöhe observation tower are located east of the district.

Oesterberg is a young district of Halver and was only built towards the end of the 20th century as a pure residential area on the heights of the Oesterberg, without a previous settlement.
