history

Glörfeld was first mentioned in a document in 1473, but the time of origin of the settlement is assumed to be between 693 and 750 during the Saxon - Franconian border disputes. The settlement probably took place from Obervahlefeld or from Rotthausen.

In 1818, 95 people lived in the village. According to the table of localities and distances from the government district of Arnsberg , Glörfeld was categorized as a village with a school and in 1838 had a population of 126, all of whom were Protestant. At that time, the place was the titular place of the Glörfeld farmers within the mayor's office of Halver and had a school, 22 residential buildings, a factory or mill and nine agricultural buildings.

The community encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 131 inhabitants who lived in 22 houses.
