history

Hohenplanken was first mentioned in a document in 1480 as Neuenhaus , but the time of origin of the settlement is assumed to be between 1050 and 1200 as a result of the clearing phase after the high medieval territorial formation. Hohenplanken was a split from Vorst .

In 1818 55 people lived in the village. In 1838 Hohenplanken belonged to the Eickhöfer peasantry within the Halver mayor . The place, which was categorized as a courtyard according to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , had a school, six residential buildings, two factories or mills and an agricultural building at that time. At that time, 35 people lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 43 residents who lived in six houses.

In High planks of today's county road K3 ran on the route of a probably early historical old route of Schwelm about Radevormwald by Wegerhof over, as iron and carbon road was used.

The school between Hohenplanken and Büchenbaum existed until the middle of the 20th century.
