Schmidtsiepen is a district of Halver in the Märkisches Kreis in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Schmidtsiepen is located east of the main town in Halver at 385 meters above sea ​​level on the L892 state road . Neighboring towns are Mittelherweg , Berge , Lingen , Grund , Siepen , Schröders Herweg and the Herweger Schleifkotten . North of Schmidtsiepen, the Brehenberg rises 401.6 meters above sea level , and the Hundsberg is 395.3 meters to the southwest .

While the residential development is north of the state road, large areas of business have settled on the road. The section of the Wuppertal Railway operated by Schleifkottenbahn GmbH runs south of the village .

history

Schmidtsiepen was first mentioned in a document in 1818, the time of origin of the settlement is assumed to be between 1775 and 1800. Schmidtsiepen was a split from Mittelherweg .

In 1818 six people lived in the village. According to the table of localities and distances from the government district of Arnsberg , Schmidtsiepen was categorized as Kotten and in 1838 had a population of 17, all of whom were Protestant. The place belonged to the Ehringhauser peasantry within the mayor's office of Halver and owned two houses and a factory or mill.
