Location and description

Buechen tree is on 395 meters above sea level in the western Halver at the county road K3 between Schwenke and stop near the border with Wipperfuerth on the watershed between the flow systems of the Wupperfeld and Ennepe . Neighboring towns are Schwenke, Eschen , Büchen , In den Kuhlen , Kreimendahl , Hohenplanken , Auf der Bever and In den Eicken . To the east, the route of the disused Wuppertal Railway between Halver and Radevormwald runs past the village.

history

Büchenbaum was first mentioned in a document in 1777 and was probably built from 1750 as a split from Neuenhaus or Hohenplanken.

In 1818 six people lived in the village. In 1838 Büchenbaum belonged to the Eickhöfer peasantry within the Halver mayor . The place categorized as Kotten according to the place and distance table of the government district Arnsberg had a house and a factory or mill at that time. At that time ten residents lived in the place, all of them Protestant faith.

The community encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of seven residents who lived in a residential building.

A presumably prehistoric old road from Schwelm via Radevormwald to Wegerhof ran along the route of today's K3 district road near Büchenbaum and was used as an iron and coal road.
