history

Niederhedfeld was first mentioned in a document in 1600, but the time of origin of the settlement is assumed to be between 1300 and 1400 following the second medieval clearing period. Niederhedfeld is a split from Schulten Hedfeld.

In 1818 there were 24 residents in the village. In 1838 Niederhedfeld belonged as Niedern-Hedfeld to the Bommerter peasantry within the Halver mayor . The place categorized as a courtyard according to the location and distance table of the government district Arnsberg had seven houses, two factories or mills and six agricultural buildings at that time. At that time there were 44 residents in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

The municipality lexicon for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 32 inhabitants for Nieder Hedfeld who lived in seven houses.

Since the early Middle Ages (according to other sources since prehistoric times) an important old road passed east of Niederhedfeld , the trade , pilgrimage and army route from Hagen via Breckerfeld , Halver and Rönsahl to Siegen . The ravines southeast of the place originate from this old road.
