history

Schröders Herweg was first mentioned in a document in 1557, but the time of origin of the settlement is presumed to be between 1300 and 1400 following the second medieval clearing period. Schröder's Herweg was probably a split from the Oberherweg farm.

In 1818 15 people lived in the village. According to the table of localities and distances from the government district of Arnsberg , Schröders Herweg was categorized as a farm and in 1838 had a population of 17, all of whom were Protestant. The place belonged to the Ehringhauser peasantry within the mayor's office Halver and had four houses and four agricultural buildings.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 26 inhabitants who lived in three houses.

Like the other -herweg places in Halver ( Oberherweg , Mittelherweg , Niederherweg , Neuenherweg , Herweger Schleifkotten ), the place name is derived from the location on the Heerweg Cologne – Wipperfürth – Soest , a medieval (according to other views prehistoric ) trade , pilgrim - and Heerweg , which ran over the route of today's state road L892.
