history

The settlement of the area around Pottheinrich can be dated back to the Mesolithic based on finds northwest of the place . Pottheinrich was first mentioned in a document in 1656, but the date of origin of today's settlement is believed to be between 1400 and 1500 as a result of the late medieval expansion period. Pottheinrich is a split from the Mittelherweg court.

In 1818 nine residents lived in the village. In 1838 Pottheinrich belonged as Potthenrich to the Ehringhauser peasantry within the Halver mayor . The place, which was categorized as a courtyard according to the location and distance table of the government district of Arnsberg , had two residential buildings, a factory or mill and an agricultural building at that time. At that time, twelve people lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 16 residents who lived in two houses.

Since the early Middle Ages (according to other sources, since prehistoric times) an important old road led past Pottheinrich from Cologne via Wipperfürth , Halver, Lüdenscheid , Werdohl and Arnsberg to Soest , a trade , pilgrimage and military route .
