history
Prehistoric stray finds near Felsenberg suggest a Stone Age settlement near the site.
The place was not created until the end of the 19th century. Free-standing until the second half of the 20th century, Felsenberg, like the neighboring Mark, was integrated into the expanding housing development of Schwenkes. A street in Felsenberg indicates the residential area.
At Felsenberg, on the route of today's federal road 229 and district road 3, a presumably prehistoric old road ran from Schwelm via Radevormwald to Wegerhof , which was used as an iron and coal road. This was crossed by another important old road from Wipperfürth to Breckerfeld .
On June 30, 1910, the neighboring Schwenke was connected to the railway network with the opening of the Wuppertal Railway. Felsenberg was close to the branch line running from Wuppertal-Oberbarmen or Remscheid-Lennep via Krebsöge and Radevormwald, Schwenke and Halver to Oberbrügge . The railway line, which had never been of economic importance, was closed for passenger traffic on May 30, 1964. A few years later, freight traffic was also discontinued and the line was finally dismantled.
