Eickerschmitte is a village in Halver in the Märkisches Kreis in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Eickermann Schmitte is at 405 meters above sea level in the southwestern Halver at the county road K3 between Schwenke and stop near the border with Wipperfuerth on the watershed between the flow systems of the Wupperfeld and Ennepe . Neighboring towns are Dornbach , Eickerhöhe , Auf den Eicken , Kreimendahl , Stöcken and Kotten .

To the north, the route of the disused Wuppertal Railway between Halver and Radevormwald runs past the village. A hill rises to the south-east at 416.0 meters above sea level.

history

Eickerschmitte was first mentioned in a document in 1770 and was created as a split from Auf den Eicken.

In 1818 there were seven people living in the village. In 1838 Eickerschmitte belonged to the Gloerfeld peasantry within the Halver mayor . The place categorized as Kotten according to the place and distance table of the government district Arnsberg had a house, a factory or mill and an agricultural building at that time. At that time, eight people lived in the village, all of whom were Protestant.

The municipality encyclopedia for the province of Westphalia from 1887 gives a number of 14 residents who lived in a residential building.

At Eickerschmitte, a presumably prehistoric old road ran along the route of today's K3 district road from Schwelm via Radevormwald to Wegerhof , which was used as an iron and coal road.
