Obergraben is a court in Radevormwald in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the North Rhine-Westphalian administrative district of Cologne in Germany .

Obergraben is located in the southeast of Radevormwald directly on the city limits to Halver and Wipperfürth in the Bever valley. The neighboring towns are Buschsiepen , Untergraben , Felsenbeck , Auf der Bever and Schwelmersiepen .

The place can be reached in Radevormwalder urban area via the federal road 229 . From the village of Eich , a road leads via Hahnenberg, Weyer and Buschsiepen to Obergraben.

To the east of the village, the Felsenbach flows into the Bever.

history

A floor plan of a single farmstead is drawn in a land map from 1828. The location is referred to as "Oberste Graben".

The road leading from “Auf der Bever” to Obergraben is of early medieval origin. It was part of a path leading from Hohenplanken via Obergraben and Kottmannshausen to Hückeswagen.

Hiking trails

The circular route marked with the hiking sign “A2” swings at the southern border of Obergraben in the direction of Schwelmersiepen. The approximately five kilometer long path is signposted by the Sauerland Mountain Association and has its starting point and destination at the hiking car park in the village of Wipperfürth- Egen, two and a half kilometers away . The circular route with the hiking sign "A5", also starting from Wipperfürth-Egen, is around nine kilometers long and leads directly through the village.

A 164 kilometer long main hiking trail of the Sauerland Mountain Association running from Hagen to Biedenkopf with the sign "X3" also leads past the village.
