Griesensiepen is a court in Radevormwald in the Oberbergisches Kreis in the North Rhine-Westphalian administrative district of Cologne in Germany .

Location and description

Griesensiepen is located in the north of Radevormwald directly on the city limits to Ennepetal , where it borders on the district of Königsfeld . Other neighboring towns are Pastoratshof , Vorm Baum and Remlingrade . Since this city border is the Middle Ages the border between the Rhineland belonging Bergisch Land and to Westphalia belong northwestern Sauerland . It should be noted that the southern Ennepe-Ruhr district is part of the north-western Sauerland due to its geography , topography , geology and the small iron industry, regardless of its political affiliation to the municipal association of the Ruhr area .

The place can be reached via the district road  8, which branches off the federal road 483 ( Schwelm  - Radevormwald  - Hückeswagen ) in the Ennepetal district of Königsfeld and leads to Remlingrade, and is located at the confluence of the Spreeler Bach and Brebach rivers . The northernmost point of the Oberbergischer Kreis is located about 500 meters east of a bend in the Brebach . In the vicinity there are still well-preserved remains of the former Bergisch-Mark Landwehr .

Only a few meters further is the Spreeler Mühle , located in the Ennepetal city area , today a restaurant for excursions. A separation between the places is not recognizable for laypeople.

history

Griesensiepen is recorded for the first time in the map Topographical Survey of the Rhineland from 1825 with the designation "Im Siepen". In the Prussian first recording from 1840 to 1843, the place name "am Griesensiepen" is mentioned.

In 1832 the place belonged to the parish Remlingrade of the rural outskirts of the mayor's office Radevormwald . The place, which was categorized as a country house according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had a residential house and an agricultural building at the time. At that time, eight residents lived in the place, three Catholic and five Protestant faith. In 1888, two houses with 16 inhabitants are listed in the community encyclopedia of the Rhine Province .
