Oberdahl is a place and district of Radevormwald in the Oberbergischer Kreis in the North Rhine-Westphalian administrative district of Cologne in Germany .

The place is right on the city limits of Wuppertal and can be reached from the village of Dahlerau via Wülfingsstraße. The neighboring villages are Kotthausen (Wuppertal) and Niederdahl . Due to its location, Oberdahl can still be counted among the Radevormwald Wupper villages.

history

The place was mentioned for the first time in 1547 , namely "Bouverdall is listed in the lists of the Bergisch tension and barge services." The spelling of the first mention was Bouverdall . At that time, Oberdahl belonged to the Walbrecken Honschaft in the Lüttringhausen parish of the Beyenburg office , to which another 15 surrounding farms belonged.

In 1815/16 there were 62 people living in the village. In 1832, Oberdahl was still part of the Walbrecken Honschaft, which now belonged to the mayor's office in Lüttringhausen . According to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , the place called a hamlet had seven residential buildings, seven agricultural buildings and a manufacturing facility at that time. At that time, 76 residents lived in the place, five Catholic and 71 Protestant faith. In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province of 1888, nine houses with 120 inhabitants are given.

In 1898 the village of Oberdahl was assigned to the parish of Dahlerau. Lüttringhausen was partially incorporated into Remscheid , Barmen-Elberfeld and Radevormwald during a municipal reform in 1929 , while Oberdahl became part of Radevormwald. Oberdahl is represented in the city council by the directly elected candidate from constituency 15.

In 1994 the first wind turbine (an Enercon E-40) was built in Oberdahl in the municipality of Radevormwald.

Population development

The statistics of the Lutheran community of Lüttringhausen reported in 1798 that there were 34 inhabitants. In a population statistics published in 1836 for the Rhine department , Elberfeld district , Lennep canton , Lüttringhausen municipality, there are already 76 inhabitants. A table in an article by Romerike Berge (Heft 1, 2005) on page 23 lists 7 houses as hamlets in connection with Oberdahl .

  • The main hiking route X7 (Residenzenweg) of the SGV runs through Oberdahl. Behind Dahlhausen, the path initially follows the course of the Wupper before going uphill to the village of Oberdahl.

Public transport

Since the end of 2004, Oberdahl is no longer connected to public transport by the citizen bus line 4 ("Der Remlingrader").
