In 1514, the church accounts of the Reformed parish in Radevormwald named the place “legal types” for the first time. In 1715 the farm is referred to as "Riggelsiepen" on the Topographia Ducatus Montani . In the historical topographical map of the Rhineland from 1825, the place name is "Rechelssiepen".
